    Field Scout SC 950 Soil Compaction Meter with Bluetooth measures horizonal root zone soil compaction. By simply positioning the meter on the soil surface and pushing the probe into the soil using constant pressure, the unit measures soil horizon compaction at one-inch increments from 0 to 18 inches deep. The unit also records these readings and GPS Maps the results using the SpecConnect app (sold separately).

    Measure Root Zone Compaction

    Soil compaction compresses the pore space between soil particles, reducing the movement of air and water through the root zone. Compacted layers can prevent root penetration, which restricts root growth, reduces turf health, limits water infiltration and creates inconsistent playing conditions.

    Using a soil compaction meter helps Sports Field Managers and Golf Course Superintendents identify areas experiencing excessive compaction and determine where corrective action such as Aerification may be needed.
