The Deltec FieldTester (3A Model) v4 FIFA Impact Tester with Clegg Hammer Equivalents is a lightweight, simple, and quick test device. It measures force reduction, vertical deformation, energy restitution and also gives Clegg Hammer (CIST / gMax) equivalent readings. It is useful in measuring athletic field surface safety and playability as well as surface uniformity for football, soccer, baseball, softball, polo, lacrosse and almost any indoor sport. The unit conforms to FIFA and CEN/TS test procedures for measuring the safety of natural and synthetic sports field playing surfaces.

The FieldTester (3A Model) v4 FIFA Impact Tester with Clegg Hammer Equivalents is easy to carry and operate. The FieldTester has a built-in universal axial speed sensor and uses a spring and foot plate similar to the 3A Artificial Athlete testing device and produces comparable test results.
The FieldTester (3A Model) v4 FIFA Impact Tester with Clegg Hammer Equivalents comes with a wireless measurement application that is compatible with iOS. The unit comes with all the items necessary to perform testing including an Ipod for use with the device. The FieldTester application generates fast results that are stored in the application immediately after the measurement, and results are displayed on the tablet screen.
By using the FieldTester (3A Model) v4 FIFA Impact Tester with Clegg Hammer Equivalents, professional test equipment is no longer the exclusive domain of laboratories and synthetic turf producers and installers. The Measuring device can be used by sports field natural grass and synthetic turf installation companies, maintenance companies, municipalities, clubs, teams, and coaches. This device allows you to monitor the quality of the maintenance of various sports and playing surfaces and measure the desired technical characteristics. This ensures safety and playability of the surfaces as well as ensures surface uniformity.
In addition to displaying Force Reduction, Vertical Deformation, Energy Restitution and Maximum Force in Newtons, the unit displays Clegg Hammer equivalent readings that can be read directly with the rest of the measuring results. The tool is user-friendly and easy to move from test area to test area with an overall weight of approximately 22 lbs (10 kilos).
The unit operates on an internal rechargeable battery pack.
Vertical deformation is one of the surface properties that is measured by the Deltec FieldTester on natural and synthetic turf sports fields. Vertical deformation measures the vertical compression of the surface. The result is expressed in millimeters. FIFA and the IRB (International Rugby Board) are sports governing bodies that have directly examined natural sports turf characteristics to establish player-surface interaction parameters for synthetic turf fields. These parameters originally derive from UEFA testing (European Soccer Federation) of natural turf stadiums in the late 1990's in multiple countries and climatic conditions. More recent testing in 2013 by the University of Tennessee Center for Athletic Safety produced results that were similar to the UEFA research for force reduction and vertical deformation.
