Another First from Turf-Tec International
Now utilized by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and some states Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for measuring urban runoff for storm water soil evaluations. Note: some states might require 6" and 12" rings or 12" and 24" Infiltration rings (ASTM 3385) as regulations change from state to state - If larger rings are required, the Turf-Tec Infiltrometer is still very useful in "qualifying" the site that all soils are alike (confirmatory testing) and have consistent infiltration rates, allowing fewer large infiltration tests to be performed on larger test sites.

The Turf-tec Infiltrometer is an instrument that is used to determine water infiltration rate easily in a matter of minutes directly on the soil surface. Turfgrass areas can be monitored periodically to determine whether infiltration is staying constant or decreasing and is a must to keep diseases and low infiltration issues like black layer to a minimum. The Turf-Tec Infiltrometer is also useful in fields like geology, geotechnical, engineering, hydrology, forestry, environmental testing, hydrogeological, runoff studies, wetland mitigation, permeability testing, sanitation contractors, project planning, stormwater best management practices (BMP's) and EPA requirements. It is durable, lightweight and simple to use with minimal water requirements to perform a double ring infiltration test. Timer, ruler and float rod all are contained within the portable 9 pound unit.

The EPA has also used the Turf-Tec Infiltrometer to replicate ASTM Specifications in tests for urban runoff

See Section 2-7
The Pennsylvania DEP (Department of Environmental Protection) has also used the Turf-Tec Infiltrometer to be used as possible support for confirmatory testing for stormwater and soil evaluation and for Infiltration BMP's Design Guidelines however, they prefer the IN8-W Infiltration rings.
